In an interrogation with Radio 1, the rapper affirmed he wants to collaborate with the Scandinavian label on inexpensive furniture, while appealing to college students
In recent years, Kanye West has strenuously attempted to inhibit the style macrocosm. Hes launched his own label, Yeezy; collaborated with the popular French ready-to-wear brand APC; designed expensive sneakers for Adidas and Nike; and recently starred in Balmains new descend/ wintertime 2016 expedition. Now, it appears the contentious rap superstar is also set on cornering the furniture sell by branding with Ikea.
I have to work with Ikea stimulate furniture for interior design, West said during a BBC Radio 1 interrogationwith Annie Mac airing Monday night.
In a preview of the chat, BBC told West believed students would be lament for him to create a minimalist accommodation inside a college dorm.
Yo Ikea, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I miss a berth that he makes, I want a chair that he makes, West said.
For Wests millions of followers on Twitter, this news maybe doesnt originated as a huge surprise. Following a see to the Scandinavian chains headquarters in March, West tweeted:
West has another connection to the flatpack behemoth: he previously collaborated with British fashion designer Katie Eary, who developed a series of textiles and tableware for Ikea.
In 2012, West propelled Donda, a nebulous firm named after his late mother, Donda West, which he vaguely described as a pattern companionship with the goals and targets to acquire products and ordeals that people want and can render an ethos that shares a lot in common with Ikea.
Ikea has so far declined to comment on a possible tie-in with West.
