Back when I was a university undergraduate in Ye Olde England, my dorm room had an Ikea lamp, lots of pretentious journals and a ostentatious vintage rock clique poster. Fast forward to present-day America and things have changed. I present as Exhibit A, Lindy Goodson and Abby Bozeman, freshman roommates at Ole Miss. A picture of Goodson and Bozemans dorm room recently started viral because, unlike dorm rooms of yore, their chamber is certainly, really nice. Like Shangri-La nice. Thoughts accord. Amazing, right? But not actually that rare. Goodson and Bozeman arent outliers; theyre representative of a more design-savvy, Instagram-image-conscious generation. You can never be too rich or more thin or have too many pillows, apparently. Pillows have proliferated at an alarming charge in recent years. Whats more, many of them combine the above veers: they pair and have a motivational phrase on them.
Well ever have paris
French may be the language of enjoy but its too the eternal speech of trying to announce sophisticated. While previous generations may have put up a framed antique French film poster, todays boys have a pillow with Cest La Vie on it or Paris plastered over their pillow or a wall decal of the Eiffel Tower. The takeout from this? While todays girls have graduated from dog-eared signs and Ikea lamps, theyre still desperately trying to impress one another. Plus a change.
